Over 65% NDDC contracts are carried out by National Assembly Members- Akpabio

With the going  grilling by the members of National Assembly to unrevealed the looting gallow at the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and some agencies under its supervision, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has linked the members of the National Assembly with the contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, saying that over 65% contracts awarded were handled by the lawmakers.

The Minister made the disclosure while answering questions at the ongoing probe by the House of Representatives committee.

According to Akpabio: “Most of the contracts in NDDC are given out to the members of the National Assembly. If you don’t know, please ask the two chairmen.”

Akpabio further explained that some Chairmen of committees on NDDC have slots in the budget.

He was, however, stopped from making further comments by some members, who were shouting “order, order.”
