Says Civil Servants need to appreciate Governor Lalong. 



An appeal was made to all Plateau State striking Civil Servants to called off their strike and go back to their respective place of duties. 

The call was made by the Plateau State Head of Civil Service Engr. Sunday C. Hyat Mni, in an exclusive interview he granted to this medium recently in his office at the Joseph Gwomwalk Secretariat Jos. 

Engr. Hyat stated that, instead of the Plateau State Civil Servants that to pay the Government of Governor Simon Bako Lalong administration with strike action they should rather appreciate him by calling off all the strike actions for all the good things he has been doing for them and the prompt payment of salaries up to date and their other walfare.

Mr Hyat Mni stated that, when he took over the mantle of leadership as the Plateau State Head of Civil Service in April 2021, the state Government went into agreement with labour and the agreement was signed on the 17 of March 2020. 

And the government negotiated quite a long with Labour and came into agreement to implement the 30%  minimum wage and some other consequential adjustments of salaries of civil servants of Plateau State. 


Mr Hyat Mni, furthermore stated that tables where produce for all salaries structures within the state service including CONMES Conhes, including all the tartiary institutions on the Plateau. 

He said, when the implementation started, there was apparently problems that was notice and a technical committee was constituted to into those issues. 

He also revealed that the technical committee was constituted even before he became the headed of service. 

The pragmatic head of service also discuss that when he became the head of service, he inherited some of the issues, and they have been talking with the leadership of the health workers practitioners including Resident Doctors, Nurses and all that are working with the health sector on the Plateau. 

And the lecturers of the state owned tertiary institutions on the Plateau's concern was that the implementation of the salary table, and the state governmentsaid let the technical committee complete its assignment so that the state government can be able to see what are the issues, in any case there was a table that was produced but let them look at the table that was signed between the Join Negotiating Council representing Labour and the Government signed by the Head of Civil Service, let them look at those tables, let them interrogate those tables if there are issues the government can be able to know what are the issues. 

Off cause they came with the issue of despairaty in salaries, that salaries are been paid and the figures are inconsistent and the government said it will look at that. 


Mr Hyat Mni also reveals that, there were issues of third-party deductions has accumulated over time, and that became an issue for all the teriary institutions. 

Mr Hyat appreciated His Excellency the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for his magniminity in paying all those deductions in December. 

The Head of Service used the opportunity to appreciate Gov. Lalong and the Accountant General of Plateau State for releasing the third-party deduction that was above total 4 billion that was paid at once. 

Also the Head of Service Mr, Sunday C. Hyat Mni, also in his disclosure, revealed that coming to this year 2022, the first salary that was paid to civil servants was the January salary, and across the Civil Servants there was some kind of abnormalities and discrepancies in their salaries, including the Permanent Secretaries and his humble self as the Head of Service. 

He said, when they make efforts to enquir from the office of the Accountant General, and they were told that they were migrated 
to a new platform and the new platform have some little problems, additionally because the Government is in a hurry to bid the time line some allowances were not included. 

So the Doctor or the Health Workers on receiving their salaries and notice some shortfalls in their salaries didn't even give the state government notice but just went on strike. He said.  

Mr. Hyat Mni further stated that when he heard that, he called on the leadership of the Health workers, and he informed them that when you see this kind of thing the first thing you people need to do is to come and enquir what happens so that the government can explain to you, but you just went on strike.
