STEFANOS FOUNDATION SUPPORTS WIDOW OF LATE PASTOR MATTHEW

STEFANOS FOUNDATION SUPPORTS WIDOW OF LATE PASTOR MATTHEW

On Friday, 20th June 2020, Stefanos Foundation visited Rose Mathew, widow of the martyred pastor Matthew Tegwi, who was killed on April 8th 2020 by suspected Fulani militia in Ngbra-Zongo village of Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The team, led by Stefanos Foundation's Program Coordinator, Engr. Mark Lipdo presented Mrs. Matthew with some relief items, which include: mattresses, pillows, bed sheets, blankets, mosquito nets, towel as well as some cash support.
Rose Matthew lost her husband, Pastor Matthew Tegwi, a minister with Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) when suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Ngbra-Zongo village on April 8th, 2020. Pastor Matthew was killed alongside others in the community. He left behind his 2 children, his wife, and unborn child which the wife is currently heavily pregnant with.

During the visit, the team also met with Rev. Ishaya Ahmadu, a pastor with Evangelical Church, Winning All (ECWA), his wife and other church members who visited the scene of the presentation.
Pastor Ishaya, who is a family member to the Matthews appreciated Stefanos and their supporters on behalf of the church and the community for their love and care to victims in the community.

He further appealed to the organization to consider other widows who are passing through similar situations as a result of the numerous attacks they faced, leading to the loss of their loved ones. He prayed also that God will continue to raise more supporters for Stefanos Foundation at these trying times that the church is faced with.

Earlier before now, when Stefanos Foundation heard of the attack on Ngbra-Zongo, on April 8th, 2020, the organization went to the community and consoled the people. During the visit, the organization shared some relief items to direct victims and established a story with Rose Matthew.

On April 24th, Stefanos again visited the community to know how Rose Matthew and her children were faring. In an emotional state, Rose narrated her pain to the team, she told them that she did not know how she could cater for herself, her children and the unborn child she was carrying as her husband was her strong support. Stefanos was moved by her plight and immediately sourced for support for her through their supporters.

In recent times, militant Fulani herdsmen have unleashed terror on different communities in middle-belt, north and some parts of the country.
As an organization, we will not relent in calling on the government to look into the security challenge bedeviling the nation, leading to the death of many Nigerians as well as loss of property of many others.

We pray that this situation will soon be arrested and peace be restored to our land.
