Breaking: Sen. Ajimobi appointed acting APC National Chairman.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the appointment of the Deputy National Chairman, South of the party, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as the acting national chairman, following the affirmation of the suspension of the National Chairman of the Party, Adams Oshiomole, by An Abuja Court of Appeal on Tuesday.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said today in an official release tweeted on the party's official Twitter handle @officialAPCNg.The decision of the Appeal Court to uphold the suspension of Oshiomole, pending the determination of the substantive suit informed the decision of the party.

According to Issa-Onilu, He said: “Guided by advice from the Party’s legal department in line with the provisions of Section 14.2. (iii) of the Party’s constitution, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Sen. Abiola Ajimobi will serve as the Party’s Acting National Chairman.

Section 14.2. (iii),of the APC constitution states that the Deputy National Chairman, North/South “Shall act as the National Chairman in the absence of the National Chairman from his zone. Therefore as Oshiomole is from the south, Ajimobi who remains the Deputy National Chairman before the judgement automatically becomes the Chairman.

Another reason Ajimobi was quickly appointed is for the party not to play lnto the hands of the enemy, as the party is now in critical point of Edo politics where anything can be used against the party. If Oshiomole remains a minute later than the time the proclamation of the court was made, it may create a legal loopholes for opponents to sue the party and declared everything that have done illegal, as the Chairman remains status barred to perform the function of that office again
