As Nigeria set to celebrate its 2020 June 12 democracy day, the people of Jos East Local Government Council of Plateau State are not left behind, as the Executive Chairman Hon. Ibrahim Musa Agwom took the members of his management team and the traditional rulers to commissioned the Kayarda bridge which was awarded and completed under his administration.

The Chairman and his team arrived the venue of the commissioning amidst great jubilation by the people of the community whom turn out in their numbers displaying their dancing skills in appreciation to the Chairman's administration efforts of linking their community with other neighboring community through the construction of the Kayarda bridge which has been a nightmare to them most especially during the raining season.
In his commissioning speech, the people's Chairman Hon. Ibrahim Agwom stated that "indeed he honoured and delighted to address you all on this milestone and landmark ceremony of the commissioning  of kayarda Bridge, a project that is so significant to the well being of the people of this axis and the entire local government".

The Chairman disclosed that, the decision to embark on the execution of this viral project was borne out of his administration’s, passionate desire to alleviate the plight of the people that ply this road, particularly in the rainy season.

Another reason that prompted my administration to embark on the construction of this magnificent bridge was to fulfill part of my campaign promises to the electorates in the Jos East who  overwhelmingly  elected us to serve at this tier of government.

You may recall that during my electioneering campaign, I did promise to transform the local government to an enviable position through the execution of developmental projects that will positively touch on the lives of our citizens.

When we came on board in October, 2018, and armed with the mandate bestowed on us by the people, we immediately swung into action by putting in place an integrated road map for the execution of vital project such as this.

We may not have achieved  all   as enshrined in our blue print but we have been able to execute some people-oriented projects even in the face of dwindling resource at our disposal.

Furthermore, the Council Boss also disclosed that apart from this all-important bridge that we have all gathered to witness its commissioning, the local administration under my watch has equally embarked on the execution of some projects, which are mostly on-going. These include the electrification of Fusa-Bayan Dutse-Naton Fusa, contruction of a vegetable market at zarazon, purchase and presentation of five (5) highlander jeeps to  traditional  rulers in the jos east, renovation of over head tank at sabon fobur, sinking of boreholes at kushuk (Nakwang) and gwashina and the grading of kudedu-Nabar-Zabir Road.
Others are the donation of fund for the electrification of shere Ekan, donation of funds for the roofing of area inspectorate office, ministry of education angware, construction  PHC Clinic at Zigam, construction of a ring culvert at  Nabar-Zandi as well as the electrification of corpers lodge at G.S.S Federe, amongst others numerous projects.

He said in addition to these efforts, the council is also considering the construction of Angware Gada-Ringi Road to ease the sufferings of citizens plying it. In addition to ensuring effective maintenance of Angware-Mazah  Road by this administration.

To this end, the legislative council has since granted approval to enable the local government obtain a loan facility to enable us embark on these projects.
Suffice to say that we have been working so assiduously within the lean financial position of the council and what we have to require from all and sundry is absolute support, unity of purpose and above all, prayers to enable us succeed in the task ahead of us.

Hon Agwom also passionately appeal to citizen of Jos East to support the rescue administration of Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Simon Bako Lalong whose visionary and proactive steps to entrench good governance and developmental strides to the door step of plateau people is highly commendable.

The Chairman also used the opportunity to admonish the traditional rulers and community leaders to strive to ensure that peace prevails in their various communities as no development can take place in a chaotic or violent environment. I appeal to our citizen to consider peace and security paramount and be our watchword at all times so that agents of destabilization will not take undue advantage of our complacency and sow seeds of discord amongst our people.
