Plateau State YOWICAN gets new leadership 





The Plateau State chapter of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria
( YOWICAN), the umbrella body of all Christian Youths on the Plateau, has elected new to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three (3) years. 

The election which took place on Thursday 20th August, 2020, under the supervision of the YOWICAN National Secretary, Arc. Abel Divine Ogwuche.

The Elections held at the Assemblies of God Church Hwolshe in Jos was conducted  peacefully with delegates drawn from the five (5) Blocs of CAN, seventeen (17) LGAs of Plateau State, Directorates and Exco of YOWICAN.

To the glory of God, the outcome of the elections clearly showed the will of God and the desire of the youths in determining who their leaders should be for the next three (3) years under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

The youths returned their Chairman, Pharm Markus Kanda Audu (CCN bloc) for a second term with 44 votes and his opponent,  Barr. Panmak Mark Lere (TEKAN/ ECWA Bloc) who scored 33 votes will serve as Vice Chairman. The youth leaders equally voted Pastor Nehemiah Nanmwa Michael (CPFN / PFN Bloc) as their Secretary with 48 votes whereas Bro Samson Akinniyi ( OAIC Bloc) who scored 29 votes will serve as Assistant Secretary. Bro Mendel Nyam (CSN Bloc) was returned unopposed for a second term as Treasurer. 
The elections was graced by Past Chairmen of the body in persons of Rev Sylvester Dombin, Hon Adamu Bala and Bro Bistu Johnson. Similarly, Bro Musa Misal ( YOWICAN Chairman 19 Northern States & FCT Abuja) was in attendance.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Pharm Markus Kanda Audu appreciated the youths for the confidence reposed on the newly elected Exco. He assured them of their willingness to serve YOWICAN to the best of their ability and will work  as a team. 

He promised to continue with the legacies of the  past Excos and improve in areas of Youth Pilgrimage, Sisters Fellowship, Seek ways for Self-sufficiency in financial matters, Improve on Grassroot presence of YOWICAN in the LGAs, Youth Trainings, Youth Camp Ground Development, Voicing out concerns of the Youths and the Church in Plateau State, Advocate for the protection of the rights of Christians and Christian Communities in Plateau State.

The Chairman solicited the prayers and support of the youths in working together to achieve great success to the glory of God and for the growth and expansion of God's kingdom. He equally assured that the youths will support CAN Plateau State ably led by Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo to achieve the organization set goals to the glory of God. The climax of the event was a special prayer offered by Rev Sylvester Dombin to God for the youth leaders to excel in the new task before them.
