Riyom LG Boss disburses 50m to Students, Women and Fermer



Riyom Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Mafeng Gwallson in his quest to deliver the dividend of democracy to his people, has disburses 50 million Nlnaira to fewer than seven hundred and fifty to indigent students of Riyom Local Government studying in various tertiary institutions in the Country 


Speaking at the event which took place at the Local Government Council Secretariat, Riyom, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Mafeng Gwallson disclosed that the scheme was for 2022 as the Council is making efforts to also pay the 2023 scholarship as well.
The scholarship allowance to the students according to the Council Chairman is towards ensuring that youths from the Local Government are assisted to further their studies.
Similarly, over seven hundred farmers and women groups in Riyom Local Government were also given the sum of thirty five Million naira to start up farming and business, the gesture according to the Local Government Chairman was aimed at improving human and capital development across the Council area.
The Council Chairman revealed that the Local Government set aside the sum of fifty million naira out of which fifteen Million was for the students scholarship, fifteen Million was for farmers and the sum of twenty Million naira was for women empowerment.
The Executive Chairman noted that the periodic gesture was aimed at further rebuilding the Local Government, thereby salvaging it from poverty and digital illiteracy, and expressed hope that the scholarship scheme will also inspire the beneficiaries and youths, in general, the opportunity to drive home the necessary change that will lead to sustainable development in the Local Government.
The Executive Chairman stressed that his administration is determined to encourage youths and women to embark on farming and business as it is the only way to economic approach towards food sustainability among the citizenry.
Plateau State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rufus Bature lauded the council Chairman Mafeng Gwallson for the initiative, noting that the gesture would make the beneficiaries to be self-reliant and widen the chances of APC in the state ahead of the general elections.
Plateau State Head of Service, Engineer Sunday Hyat, member representing Riyom at the State Assembly, Timothy Dantong, Leader of the Riyom Local Government Legislative Arm, Dachung Moses, and Da Gwom Rwei, Riyom, Samuel Jok praised the Executive Chairman for the gesture and called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money given to them.
Chairman of the scholarship and empowerment committee, Pam Nyango said for accountability and transparency, the Council has engaged the services of the Yeneng Microfinance Bank, Ganawuri to pay the beneficiaries, while noting that the gesture by the Chairman is the first of its kind in the history of Riyom Local Government.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Lyop Anthony, Samual Zam-Bios, and Gwong Danchilik after getting their alert appreciated the Chairman for the gesture, even as the promised to make judicious use of the grants given to them.
