Plateau Assembly passes N116.7bn appropriation bill


The Plateau State House of Assemby, has Thursday, passed the sum of N116.7bn 2022 appropriation bill, as against the sum of N106.8bn presented to  it by Governor Simon Lalong.

The House presided over by deputy speaker Sale Shehu Yipmong, approved the the budget after recieving the report its committee on Appropriation as presented by the chairman Hon. Yahaya Adamu Mavo.

Governor Simon Lalong, has on 21 October, 2021 presented to the House the sum of N106.8bn, 2022 appropriation, with N76.2bn representing 71.4% as recurrent expenditure, while the sum of
N30.5bn as capital expenditure representing 28.6%, only.

However, Hon. Mavo said the House after scrutiny, jacked up the appropriation with the sum of more than N10bn.

Likewise, the House has considered and approved the Executive request for virement of N6.8bn from the 2021 budget, to enable the state take over and complete the Heipang Inland dry Port, by the State Government.

The House said accessing the virement would not have any effect on the 2022 Budget, that completion and take off of the Jos dry port will be a catalyst for employment as well as an avenue to place the State on the global map of export. 

"That the proposed virement will be taken from Capital heads of the Ministries," it said. 

Meanwhile, Speaker Yakubu Sanda, has informed the plenary about the death of Hon. Henry Longs, who passed on last Sunday night after protracted illness.

Hon. Sanda led members to observe a minute silence in honour of the soul of the late lawmaker.
