Tiv in Jos south gets new leadership

The Ter Tiv Jos, Chief Peter Apeh has installed Tiv community leader (Ortar) of Jos South local government area of Plateau state, he is Zaki Fidelis Moses Chia.

Performing the rite of installation of the Ortar, on Sunday Chief Apeh admonished Tiv in Jos South to accord the Ortar the respect deserved the stool.


It was learnt that the stool of Ortar became  vacant in Bukuru due to the demise of the former leader.

Represented by Elder Francis Agbatse, Chief Peter Apeh, while installing the Ortar appealed of Bukuru community to accord the him the maximum respect he deserve in carrying out his duties.


Chief Apeh call on all Tiv residence in Plateau state to respect tradition and customs of their host Communities.

Earlier, an elder in Jos South community Augustine Kachina while presenting Mr. Fidelis Chia for the installation, he explained that the stool have vacancy over 16 years ago, following demies of the former Ortar David Kange.


In his address, President Tiv Community Plateau state Mr. Akpuur Jembe tasked the entire Tiv speaking people residence in Jos South to accord the Ortar the respective he desire to enable him perform better than his predecessors.

Mr. Jembee equally charged the newly installed Ortar to carry out his duties in accordance to tenet of Tiv culture and customs.


The President general Tiv Jos, also call on residence of Jos South to endeavor to register with the center Tiv association and become members.

Elders who spoke at the event encouraged the newly installed Ortar to carry along his subjects and be a just judge.


In an acceptance speech, the newly installed Ortar Zaki Fidelis Moses Chia, said he will act accordingly, he call for support his subjects.

He dedicated the honor done him to God and the entire Tiv community of Jos South.


Village head of the community where Zaki Chia lives, Johan Abu, who is the Mai-Angwa in a speech said the stool is long overdue and well deserved.
