QUA’AN-PAN LG. SCREENS EDUCATION STAFF FOR ADEQUATE SERVICE DELIVERY

The administration of Qua'an - Pan Local Government Council, LGC, of Plateau State has commenced the screening of 1,170 teaching and non-teaching staff of the Local Education Authority on its payroll.

Speaking during the verification exercise, the Chairman of the Council Hon. Ernest A. Da'a, represented by the Deputy Chairman and Supervisory Councilor for Education, Hon.

Helen H. Wapmuk, said the aim of the exercise is to ascertain the number of the teachers and education staff on its payroll, stressing that their monthly salaries have remained unchanged despite the fact that some of the workers are said to have either retired or have died.

She added that the exercise will enable the local government administration to eliminate the ghost workers from the system and transform the system for adequate service delivery, informing further that the exercise will cover only the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) sector, adding that the exercise will last for only one week.

The  Chairman of the Verification Committee and Council Secretary, Hon. Gideon Godena'an Dashe, said documents required include; appointment letters, bank statements  and means of identification (National Identity Card or Permanent Voters Card).

Hon. Dashe stated that some of the challenges they are encountering revolve around irregularities in personal data, where names on the identification cards and the date of birth do not tally with those on the appointment letters.
