Plateau South: PDP calls for immediate disqualification of APC candidate

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau State chapter Hon. Chris Hassan, has call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately disqualify Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut the Plateau South December, 5th, 2020 candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC

The Chairman made the call today 2nd December, 2020, in a press conference held in his office in Jos, the Plateau State capital, stated that It is sad that Prof. Nora Dadu’ut cannot vote and she wants to be voted for.

Hon Hassan also challenge Prof. Dadu’ut to make public her voters card, while praying that by the grace of God they shall celebrate their victory as the people of Plateau South have clearly shown their preference for the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate and it reads as follows:

*PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE STATE CHAIRMAN OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY(PDP) PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER, HON CHRISTOPHER ADUKUCHILI HASSAN , ON 2ND  DAY OF DECEMBER 2020 AT THE STATE PARTY SECRETARIAT*
Gentlemen of the Press.

On-behalf of the State Executive Committee, our Leaders, Elders, critical Stakeholders, Members of our great Party across the State, I welcome you all to this press conference.

You will recall that two months ago I approved the constitution of the Plateau South Senatorial Bye-Election Campaign Council and was subsequently inaugurated with a sole mandate of not only presenting our Candidate to the electorates in all electoral wards across the zone, but equally reminding the people of the PDP's legacies of performance with the ultimate aim of winning the Plateau South Senatorial seat.

The Campaign Council immediately swung into action with our Candidate, Rt. Hon George Edwards Daika who has a track record of performance in the Plateau State House of Assembly serving as Speaker and also at the National Assembly, representing Mikang, Shendam and Quaan-Pan Federal constituency.

This you will agree has placed him as the most credible of the candidates to represent Plateau South Senatorial zone.
It is with great enthusiasm that the Campaign Committee with our candidate immediately took off on a thank you tour to all the six (6) local government areas and thereafter the just concluded ward to ward tour.
We give God Almighty the glory and praise for a successful outing.

It was indeed an awesome experience. It is gratifying, that Plateau citizens have clearly demonstrated their readiness and resolve to go with the Peoples Democratic Party as they came out in their numbers to give a rousing welcome to this potential Senator loaded with message of hope.

We are indeed humbled by this show of love, solidarity and support for our party and the candidate, we promise not to take this support for granted. Our party is well known for performance and qualitative democratic representation as demonstrated by our serving and past legislators.

It is however, very unfortunate that the APC in its usual desperation to subvert the will of the people, have been making unpopular attempts to disrupt the election process by spreading fake news as their stock in trade that our Candidate has been disqualified, while billions of naira meant  to pay civil servants and pensioners has been diverted for vote buying during the coming election. We are saddled that up to this moment governor Lalong have refused to implement the new minimum wage but takes pleasure in misappropriating public funds for his personal gain.

We find it mandatory at this moment to put the record straight and clear the air that  there has never been and there is no any subsisting order from any court setting aside the candidature of Rt. Hon George Edwards Daika of the Peoples Democratic Party contrary to the fake  news of the mischief merchants of the APC.

On the alleged disqualification of our popular Candidate, gentlemen of the press, it is pertinent to bring to your notice that, Rt. Hon George Edwards Daika does not in any way have credibility problem, and so he remains the Peoples Democratic Party's Candidate for the 5th December 2020 Plateau South Senatorial bye election, rather it is the APC that have credibility issue with its candidate for not being a card carrying member and a registered voter. It is sad that Prof. Nora Dadu’ut cannot vote and she wants to be voted for. We challenge Prof. Nora Dadu’ut to make public her voters card. We are praying that by the grace of God we shall celebrate our victory as the people of Plateau South have clearly shown their preference for the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate.

While we have continuously restated our commitment to a free, fair and non violent process we are saddened by APCs intention to vote buying and massive riging, a party that lacks Democratic ingredients and have since been rejected by the populace.

We therefore demand that come 5th December 2020 the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) should carry out their statutory responsibilities based on the oath of office sworn by them to be impartial in protecting the already earned integrity of the Commission and the Security agencies also should protect all electorates as they come out to exercise their rights to vote.

However, it should be noted that anyone who deviates from this sacred oath and does anything illegal the law will take its course on such a person.

We call on the Parents/Guardians and employers of all the Ad-hoc staff that will be engaged in this election to call their Wards to order.

Plateau people and PDP in particular are expecting nothing short of a free, fair, credible and peaceful election.

No one whether the Security agencies or officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) will be allowed to subvert the will of the people. No more no less.

As a party, we will follow the process from A to Z from multiple angles with our eagle eyes. Any compromise will not be tolerated. As a party that promotes equity and justice, a party that believes in the right of the people to freely express their choice will be watching and fullest wrath of the law will be effected on such a person.

We have also been alerted on movement of thugs from Jos north to Shendam, and this is just one out of many calls we have received in the last 48 hours, we are liaising with relevant security agencies to ascertain the mission of these thugs. We have adviced members of the public to watch out for persons whose presence and activities in their neighborhood are suspicious and report same to the police and other law enforcement agencies.

Finally, I wish to appreciate all our aspirants for the plateau south senatorial who contested the primaries along with our candidate, Rt. Honorable George Daika for their great show of maturity after the primaries. They rallied with the candidate in a united solidarity of purpose by campaigning along with him. We therefore celebrate their courage and sacrifice for the good of the party. May the good lord grant you all your heart desire in any future endeavor.

Long live Rt. Hon George Edwards Daika!
Long live Plateau South!
Long live PDP!

Signed..
*Hon Christopher Adukuchili Hasan*
*State Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party Plateau State.*
