Unity and empathy among Plateau citizens, a circumstance of necessity- Rt. Hon. Abok


The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abok Nuhu Ayuba has described unity and empathy amongst peoples of Plateau State as a circumstance of necessity. The Speaker stated this during the unveiling and dinner of Anaguta patriots held in Hotel de Lamonde Jos.

"Looking at the current trendings" the Speaker said, both national and state, "we shall continue to live as lobourers without due wages if we refuse to set our individual differences aside (wether they be party affiliations, tribal or religious) to play as a team." Emphasizing on the internal aggrandizement he said "with unity and tolerance towards one another, we can conquer the hate that has bedeviled us as a people and restore our past glory."


The Speaker again reemphasized the reward of togetherness and harmonious coexistence as a pragmatic dogma that has already been tasted and has provided utmost positive impacts by the 9th State Assembly hence, people wonder why the House is able to run smoothly while fulfilling it's legislative mandate with ease.

"Government is trying to facilitate the means for improve standard education as a yardstick for providing adequate human capital to meet up with the future demand, that is why you can see that many bills and motions related to education has been dominant on the floor of the House, especially, targeting the indigenous child with emphasis on the Anaguta people on whose land the prestigious University of Jos is situated. Means we must brace up." Said the Speaker.


Abok did not forget to challenge the minority indigenous people of Plateau on the need to appreciate the effort of the present administration for recognizing the minority tribes while calling for synergy amongst the people of Jos North as a license for safety and peaceful coexistence.

"We can understand the current challenges and difficulties people are facing, especially in this period of festivities" Abok said, "but we also urge our dear people to bear with government as government is also not finding it as usual due to recent global economy downturn."


Advising the youth, Mr. Speaker said, "as young people, I know that we are all yearning to change the narrative and that is the same brimstone burning inside all of us, but can I tell you that we can only realize this using a historical compass as our guide (the elders) is necessary for this journey.
