As Nigeria mark it's Sixtieth Independence Anniversary as a Sovereign Nation, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Abok Ayuba, has stressed the need for Nigerians to reflect on the State of the nation by contributing their quota in overcoming numerous challenges confronting the country.

According to a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Bulus Atang, the Speaker in commemoration of the nation's 60th Independence Anniversary, urges Nigerians to endeavour to build on the contribution of founding fathers, adding that when those in leadership position and followership work in unity and have love for the country, Nigeria will take its rightful place among the comity of nations.

The Speaker emphasized on the need for Nigerians to truly defend the unity and uphold the sanctity of the nation in line with their pledge of allegiance to the country by being patriotic in all their dealings.

Describing the youth as the greatest asset to the nation in whose hands the future lies, the Speaker equally enjoined them to shun negative tendencies and cultivate virtues of patriotism, commitment and dedication in serving the country.

According to him, notwithstanding, the problems of nation-building which the country may be grappling with at the moment, the Nigeria Spirit remain alive and should continue to be nourished as the vehicle of national transformation.

While congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Simon Lalong, the Leader of the rescue mission on the plateau and Chairman Northern Governors Forum and all Nigerians, Abok lauded the present administration over its efforts at improving the living standards of Nigerians despite numerous challenges facing the nation.

The Speaker, while assuring the people that the 9th State assembly would continue to work in unison with other arms of government for the common good of the state, advice citizens to remain steadfast and courageous to overcome adversity as a People.

He appealled to all and sundry to accord the present administration the desire support and cooperation.
