Local Government Staff acquire and distributes to 17 Plateau LGC's personal protective equipments

An activist, Comrade Dauda A. Aku has distributed Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to Local Government Staff across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Following the recent transfers and redeployments of Local Government Staff by the Plateau State Local Government Service Commission which saw the Local Government Staff criss-crossing the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State as they report to their new stations; pundits have called for caution and strict adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols as stipulated by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

With the recent transfers and redeployments, coupled with the ever rising cases of Corona Virus in Plateau State, Comrade Dauda A. Aku, a staff with the Local Government Service who was posted to Langtang North LGA from Bassa LGA saw the need to safeguard the health of all staff as the fight against Corona virus lingers on.

To this end, he acquired Personal Protective Equipments; including; Handwashing Buckets, Hand Sanitizers and Nose Masks and distributed them evenly across the 17 Local Government Councils of Plateau State for use by Local Government Staff.

The items were distributed by a team led by the immediate past Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Jos North Chapter, Comrade Hassan Rabiu Azi.

Comrade Hassan Rabiu Azi, while presenting the items at each of the Local Government Secretariats to the Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) for onward distribution to their staff said that the gesture was motivated by the need to fight Corona Virus by all and sundry, have a healthy and safe Local Government Employees despite the recent transfers and redeployments.

He said that the items are Comrade Dauda A. Aku's widow might in the fight against Corona virus; motivated by love and care for his colleagues at a time when Plateau State has become the epicenter of the COVID19 pandemic in Nigeria.

Recieving the items, the DPM of Barkin Ladi LGC, Mr. David Dama; the DPM of Wase LGC, Mrs. Amina Sani Turaki; and the NULGE Caretaker Chairman of Kanam LGC, Comrade Aliyu Adamu, in their separate remarks thanked the team and Comrade Dauda Aku for his benovelence towards his colleagues.

Also, the DPM of Mikang LGC, Comrade Nancwat Samuel Laksing and his counterpart in Jos North LGC, Mrs. Cordelia Kingson were also full of gratitude on recieving the items and went on to call on activists and unionists who have the welfare of the staff at heart to take over the leadership of NULGE rather than allow self-serving individuals to continue holding the union to ransom.

On their parts, Mrs. Kanang Fom Bot, DPM, Riyom LGC;  Mrs. Katherine Davou, DPM, Jos South LGC; and Mr. Zemzak Madugu, NULGE Caretaker Chairman of Shendam LGC who received the items at their various Local Government Secretariats described the donations as timely and in the spirit of togetherness.
