LABOUR  IN RESEARCH INSTITUTES CRIES OUT
The Labor Unions in the Nigeria's Research institutes are crying out to the President Buhari APC led government to save the research institutions from total collapse, this is as a result of near total neglect of the sector.
The Unions, particularly the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational And Associated Institutions (NASU), Plateau State Chapter, through their spokesman, Comrade Biyal, Ezekiel Daniel, who made the appeal in a paper signed by him, and six other NASU branch Chairmen and SSAUTHRIAI Chairman (NVRI), Vom and was made available to the press, he alleged that the Federal Government have over the years turned deaf ears to the plight of the Research Institutions in Nigeria.

3. Retirement age of 65 years for non-research staff as obtainable in the Universities and others.
4. Peculiar/Earned Allowance
5. Establishment of a Central body to be known as NATIONAL RESEARCH INSTITUTES COMMISSION (NARICOM)
as at the time of this press release, only six months out of the 18 months salary arrears have been paid, leaving a balance of 12 months.
The spokesman re-emphasized the position of JORAISU on the ongoing Nation-wide strike to push home her demands for the immediate implementation of the over a decade agreement between FGN/JORAISU since 2010.
Disturbing is the fact that the strike has entered the fifth week and yet Federal government is yet to have any meeting with the National leadership of JORAISU for discussion on the way forward.
More worrisome is the fact that the Research Sector which is supposed to be the engine room for any meaningful development has been left un-attended to by successive administrations, he lamented that Nigeria would continue to be a consumer nation if nothing is done quickly to salvage our ailing research institutions for sustainable development and national growth, as no nation could ever attain development without the research sector.
In the words of the spokesman, "out of the five items contained in the agreement, FGN has only paid 6months of the 18months salary (CONRAISS) arrears since 2010 and the rest items were never attended to, quite unfortunate" he lamented.
To put the records straight, he further stressed that the National Leadership of JORAISU has so far held 33 meetings with the Federal Government, and one with the House of Representative's Committee on Agriculture, Colleges And Allied Institutions between year 2010 and 2018 but no result has been achieved.
We want to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora to prevail on the Nigerian Government to implement the provisions of the year 2010 FGN/JORAISU agreement to the latter.
