Christian Community decries of marginalization in Kanam under Alh. Garga led-administration

Group under the auspices of Kanam Christian Youths in Politic (KCYP) has raised an alarm over what it call Christian maginalization lopisded and insensitivity of Alh. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga's appointment in Kanam LGC.

The group made the disclosure in a statement made available to News Parrot Newspaper and was signed by Mr. B.S Wakkai - Chairman and 17 others stated that The Kanam Christian Youths in Politic (KCYP) is an umbrella body of all the Christian Youths participating in politics and developmental strides and promoting cordial interface of religion, tribal, and ethnic harmonious coexistence in governance.

It is given the above that, we consider it very imperative to address you on the unfolding events happening and the world to know the marginalization of the Christian Community in Kanam by Alh. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga led-administration especially in the lopsided and insensitiveness of the appointments carried out recently without recourse to justice, fairness, and considerations and read as follows:

THE LOPSIDED AND THE INSENSITIVITY OF ALH.DAYYABU YUSUF GARGA'S APPOINTMENT IN KANAM LGC.

The Kanam Christian Youths in Politic (KCYP) is an umbrella body of all the Christian Youths participating in politics and developmental strides and promoting cordial interface of religion, tribal, and ethnic harmonious coexistence in governance.

It is given the above that, we consider it very imperative to address you on the unfolding events happening and the world to know the marginalization of the Christian Community in Kanam by Alh. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga led-administration especially in the lopsided and insensitiveness of the appointments carried out recently without recourse to justice, fairness, and considerations.

It is interesting to know that Kanam local government has 20 elected councilors and out of it only 2 are Christians and 8 appointed supervisory councilors only  1 is Christian.

We recalled with nostalgia the promise made by Alh. Dayyabu Yusuf Garga before and after his election to give the Christian community the Secretary of the council, but this was politically maneuvered to say that no Christian in the zone the Secretary's position was given 

In an audience with Alh.Dayyabu Yusuf Garga precisely on the 25/10/2021 at Kalwa house Zarmaganda to address the matter with Youth Wing CAN, Kanam Christian Concern Group present where he promised to compensate Christian community with the subsequent appointment, but to our greatest surprise, it was not but a slap on our back again.

We felt that Alh. Dayyabu Garga led- administration wants to destroy the peace, harmony, and unity that we are enjoying for centuries through communal family living among our brothers and sisters of the Muslim faith. This we will niche in the bud before it generates into something else.

As a respected Elder, a former commissioner we consider this approach as democratically unfair and insincere to carry the Christian community along as he promised during his campaign/swearing-in.

We want to put it to his knowledge that before he join active politics power-sharing was there as in 1992 when Alh. Sale Gwaram was the council chairman, Mr. Peter Gbok was his deputy, and many Christians that deputized.

It is also worthy to note that when Alh. Yusuf Doma and Alh. Sale Gwaram (all of the blessed memory) are chairmen of Kanam LGC, heaven was not let loose when Mr.Maikano Nisa and Mr. Titus Sukumkya (late) are the Secretary education authority of Kanam LGC respectively and Mr. Emmanuel Gazuwa as Secretary Kanam LGC at the same time during Alh.Sale Gwaram's time.

Therefore, we wish to categorically state the following without ambiguities that, 

1 We call on the governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Dr.Simon Bako Lalong, SSG, and the chief of staff of Plateau State to intervene in these bizarre and lopsided appointments made by Alh Dayyabu Yusuf Garga immediately to check his excesses and political intention of alienating Christian community in governance in Kanam.

2 We also call on the governor to compensate the Christian community with the vacant commissionership position Alh. Dayyabu Garga left by appointment of a Christian commissioner to ameliorate the harsh effect of the brazen act of marginalization of the Christian community in Kanam that are suffering hitherto.

3 We want to also call on the governor of Plateau State as our only hope to see to our plight to ensure fairness is done to us politically as we know him as the governor who doesn't discriminate against someone else's religious affiliation.

4 We also want to call the CAN Plateau State chapter and other well-meaning citizens to wade into the saga to do all within its power to prevail in the circumstances of Christians marginalization in Kanam. As no one will suffer any loss if the situation is reversed in the interest of harmonious coexistence

Gentlemen of the press, we want to use this medium also to show our appreciation to those seeing our plight in other local governments and call Alh.Dayyabu Yusuf Garga's attention to order. Wish we hope he will hear the voice of reasoning and reverse the appointment and do the needful.
