NMDC , INDIAN MINING  COMPANY COLLABORATION TO BOOST FOREIGN  EXCHANGE EARNING  FOR NIGERIA - NMDC  HELMSMAN 

The dramatic improvement  on Nigeria foreign earnings is  achievable  through  healthy  collaborations with  relevant foreign  organizations .

Head (Press and  Public  Relations ) NMDC,Jos stated that the ascertion was  made  by the Director  General/ Chief  Executive , National  Mettalurgical  Development Centre , Engr Prof  Linus Asuquo during  a technical/ fact  finding  visit  of Directors and Engineering Consultant  of  Diamond  Aggregate Mining  Limited India to National  Metallurgical Development Centre , Jos  recently. 

The DG /CE who  was represented by  the  Director, Finance and  Human  Resources  Management , Dr  Abubakar Yusuf  Tumi told the Team  from  Indian company  that NMDC does not partner with foreign  organizations with  exploitative  tendencies rather with  organizations that have  symboitic principles in  collaborations .

 

He reminded the delegation  that NMDC 's  collaboration  with  UNIDO ,  UNDP, MINTEK , DICON, NDA ,MINDER and others have proved  that the  Agency is indispensable  to  value addion in Mining  and Steel  sector .

The  DG /CE  Rep. said  that NMDC has researched and  updgraded many minerals for  governments , coorporate  organizations and  individuals  using the latest beneficiation and  scientific  methods .

Dr Abubakar reminded  the Indian  company  representatives  that choosing  NMDC as a  government  agency to collaborate with in  Iron  Ore upgrading / beneficiation is the  best decision  the  company has taken  considering its   unquantifiable benefits to  Nigeria and  India in terms  of foreign  exchange earnings 

Abubakar  while  taking  the Team  on  a Facility Tour  at the  Centre, assured them  that NMDC being   one  out of three Research and  Development  Centres  in Africa that  have  the best Man power and  Equipment in Minerals  Processing and beneficiation is  ever ready to add  value  to any type  of mineral or metal presented  to it for  accessment .

He  encouraged   the  company to get  the necessary  certification  from Nigeria government  particularly from   the  Mining Cadestra  Office of  Ministry  of Mines  and  Steel  Development ,Abuja so as to have  a hitched-free mining  and exportation business  in Nigeria .

In his response, the  Nigerian Engineering Consultant to  the company  Engr  Marcus  Oche said  that  the  choice of  NMDC for  the partnership was  burne out of years of research  on the activities  and viability of the  Centre in Minerals  Research and Development .The  Consultant  said  that  their main purpose  of the visit was  to  kickstart  the process of  collaboration  with NMDC especially  in the area of Iron  Ore upgrading while  appealing to the authorities  at the  Centre  to assist  the company  to secure Mineral  Tittle Licence as soon  as possible .

Engr Jai Matthew ,one of  the Directors of the  company expressed satisfaction on what he saw in various  Laboratories visited  at  the Centre .In his  words ' Am  astonished  by what  I have  seen  on groud, I  never knew  that  such  opportunities  exist  in  Nigeria.

Engr  Matthew promised his company would  expidite action in ensuring that the proposed  Memorandum  Of  Understanding (MOU ) between his  company  and NMDC are  signed in  the shortest possible  time which  according to  him will symbiotically be of immense benefit  to Nigeria  and  India .
