Plateau Publishers Association appreciate Gov. Lalong's developmental stride with award of excellent performance

In its efforts to spur him to do more for the betterment of the people of Plateau State, the Plateau Publishers Association (PPA), has appreciated Governor Simon Bako Lalong's developmental stride with an award of excellent performance

The Plateau Publishers Association through it chairman, Mr Shabul Mazadu, has presented an award of recognition of sterling performance to Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, on restoration and consolidation of peace on the Plateau.

Presenting the award to the Governor at Victoria Gowon Hall of the Government House, Little Rayfield Saturday, after the media parley organised by the state government, PPA Chairman, Shabul Mazadu, said the publishers association has been keenly following the giant strides of the Apostle of the Rescue Mission, and deemed it fit to not only commend him in words but with an award also.

He said coming on board as Plateau State Governor, Lalong has inherited a state torn apart by ethno-religious crises with no go areas at both in Jos and Bukuru Metropolises; skirmishes between the Fulani and Berom in Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom, and also weak relationship between Plateau and some states of the North., and then rolled out measures to make them a thing of the past.

Mentioning some of the measures, Mazadu said he set up a committee to broker peace between the Fulani and Berom in the affected Local Government Areas, set up a Mobile Police Barracks in Shendam, Air Force Base in Kerang, Peace Building Agency, Watch Tower at Dutse Uku in Jos North and interreligious council.

Furthermore he said that the Governor's acceptance of being the chairman of Northern Governors Forum, has improved the relationship between Plateau and other states of the north which if properly sustained it will spread to the entire country and one day will cause a democratically elected president to come from the state.

The PPA chairman thanked him for passing into law the Anti Rape, Anti Kidnapping and Anti Land Grabbing bills, saying the are ingredients of equal rights and justice, without which there will be no peace.

He also applauded the efforts of Governor Lalong in ensuring the rancour between the factions of the publishers association has gone down the drain. According to him, when Lalong came on board the Plateau Independent Publishers Association was in shambles but the governor felt that there was the need for peace to reign, and he delegated Sir Joseph Ari to wade in and reconcile the factions. In 2019, Mazadu added, Ari called all the factions and reconciled them into an entity adding that the efforts of the Governor at restoring and consolidating peace on the Plateau are vastly and fast yielding positive results. Thus, the PPA deemed it fit to present an award of recognition to his sterling performance in the restoration and consolidation of peace.

Responding to the award, Gov Lalong said it came as a great surprise to him, and that he is dedicating it to the Executive Council and all members of his administration saying all the achievements he has recorded are a result of team work. And that the award will spur them to do more for the state.
He thanked the PPA for the award
