Deduction of LG funds to PLASU, Operation Rainbow, product of law - Tapgun

The Commissioner Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Plateau State, Hon. Silvanus Dankano Tapgun has cleared the air on the insinuation making around that Governor Simon Bako Lalong has been dipping his hand on the local government funds to finance the activities of the Plateau State Owned University Bokkos and Operation Rainbow also a state own security outfit.

The Commissioner stated that while hosting members and EXCO's of the Plateau Publishers Association (PPA) at the ministry's conference hall in Jos, he said, deduction of Local Government fund to fund the activities of Plateau State University Bokkos and Operation Rainbow are all product of the law and that most continue unless otherwise.

He said funds giving to Plateau State University Bokkos and Operation Rainbow are monies that has been agreed that for the University to grow the local government will give some percentage, and they had agreed which has become a law by the State Assembly, that certain percentage of their funds must go to the development of the University, same thing with Operation Rainbow.

Similarly the Commissioner also disclosed that "His Excellency Gov. Simon Lalong was the first to say payment of 30,000 minimum wage is sacrosanct, he choose his words so that means there is no two ways about the payment of that same 30,000 minimum wage".

He had been a worker friendly Governor, he didn't ascribed to himself the term Governor alert but the workers themselves felt his impact in that regard so they gave him that name.

So to say the Governor is dipping his hand into the monies that do not come to states.

The Commissioner also disclosed that local government funds does not come to state, rather it goes to the local government directly from Abuja.
