Community Leader made a Compassionate Appeal for the Construction of Gazum Road in Langtang North.

A compassionate appeal has been made to the Plateau State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh  Mutfwang the Executive Governor of Plateau to construct Gazum Road in Langtang North Local Government Area of the State.

The appeal was made by
Joe Gazum prince of Damber aka Galadima
Chairman N'DANGKUM the see front ceo in an open letter he to his Excellency and made available to newsmen stated that
this is not the first time that the people of Gazum have raised this critical issue, but for over 26 years, successive governments have not accorded this critical infrastructural problem the attention it requires.

Your Excellency, Gazum Road remains a symbol of state neglect, a painful reminder of unfulfilled promises from the Abacha era to date. Several governors and politicians have, over the years, assured the people of Langtang North and Gazum of the road's construction. Over a dozen contractors have had contracts offered to them and even the project flagged off, but nothing has been done. Each election cycle, this road is an election campaign vehicle wherein promises to construct it are utilized as a vehicle for political patronage. Once elections are won, the project is set aside, and citizens are left to contend with the effect of a non-functioning infrastructure.
The Gazum Chiefdom is not just a typical settlement; it is the first and only chiefdom in Langtang North LGA, and it is one of the leaders of the cultural, political, and economic fabric of Taroh land. Furthermore, the Acting Ponzhi Taroh, the most senior monarch of the Tarohs, resides in this area. Yet, the principal pathway to this culturally and historically significant town is in a disgraceful condition and it reads as follows:

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE ON THE DEPLORABLE STATE OF GAZUM ROAD, LANGTANG NORTH LGA
His Excellency,
The Executive Governor,
Plateau State Government House,
Little Rayfield, Jos.
Your Excellency,
A PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GAZUM ROAD IN LANGTANG NORTH LGA
With all humility and in utmost concern, we, the people of Gazum and the entire Taroh tribe, write to respectfully call your attention to the deplorable state of Gazum Road in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Yet, the principal pathway to this culturally and historically significant town is in a disgraceful condition. This is humiliating and is a discredit to the traditional institution and people who have been loyal to the state and leadership for centuries.
Gazum Road is a crucial economic vein connecting Langtang North to the rest of the state and beyond. It serves as the primary entry point for farmers, businesspeople, and haulers ferrying commodities and services. Langtang North is famous for its agricultural outputs, particularly yam, millet, and maize farming. The inability to transport these goods efficiently brought about by the depreciation of the road has led to huge economic losses, low local business earnings, and further misery for farmers.
Gazum Road has made transportation a nightmare, especially during the rainy season when the road is completely impassable. This has resulted in avoidable deaths because people are denied access to health facilities when emergencies require them. Pregnant women, accident victims, and other patients in need of urgent treatment have been put in danger because cars and ambulances cannot access them on the terrible road.
The perception of insecurity in some parts of Plateau State renders it that much more critical to construct the road. Effective road coverage enhances security operations so that there can be easy response of law enforcement units to crisis incidents. Unfortunately, the despicable state of Gazum Road has served as a hideout for criminals who exploit its poor nature to carry out their activities without fear of immediate interruption by security agents.

The Acting Ponzhi Taroh, as the oldest monarch in the Taroh tribe, is treated with a lot of respect, not just in Langtang North but in Plateau State and even far beyond. Forfeiting the sole road leading to his domain is a personal affront to the Taroh people and a sign of disrespect for the traditional institution. Your Excellency, we beg of you to honor our king and our people by having the road constructed as quickly as humanly possible.

Your Excellency, prioritize the construction of Gazum Road as an important project of your administration.
Ensure transparency of implementation of the project, by ensuring that awarded works are properly watched and delivered on time. Bury political chicanery by making the construction of the road a reality, not a pledge.

Your Excellency,  the people of Gazum and Langtang North have already lost enough due to this deplorable state of the road. The time to act has arrived.
Do not let your government be remembered in history as yet another that promised and failed. Instead, let the future recall you as the governor who, at last, heeded the voices of the people and relocated Gazum to progress.
We look forward to your timely intervention and good, prompt action on this issue of the utmost urgency.
Yours Sincerely,
Joe Gazum prince of Damber aka Galadima
