NGWANG ISHI OTAROK DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (NIODA) WORLDWIDE CONDEMNS UNPROVOKED ATTACKS ON IRIGWE PEOPLE OF GIDAN ADO COMMUNITY IN RIYOM LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA AND ARIGEH COMMUNITY IN BASSA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF PLATEAU STATE.

Ngwang Ishi Otarok Development Association (NIODA) Worldwide is shocked and deeply saddened by the senseless and unprovoked attacks on Irigwe people of Gidan Ado and Arigeh Communities of Riyom Local Government Area and Bassa Local Government Area respectfully on Sunday 22nd December, 2024 resulting to loss of numerous innocent lives.

Hon. Daniel, Nanbol Listick NIODA Publicity Secretary who signed on behalf of the NIODA President Worldwide and made available to newsmen stated that
NIODA strongly condemns this heinous act of violence, which is a clear violation of human rights and fundamental dignity. NIODA express deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, Riyom LGA, Bassa LGA and Plateau State Government. We stand in solidarity with the affected communities.

Furthermore, Hon. Lipstick stated that this brutal attack is a stark reminder of the urgent need for increased efforts to promote peace, tolerance and understanding. NIODA calls on authorities to take immediate and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that such atrocities never happen again.

The NIODA also called  on  community leaders, Civil Society Organizations and Government Officials at all levels to work together to address the root causes of this attacks and promote a culture of peace, inclusivity and respect for human life.

NIODA appeals for:

1. Immediate investigation and prosecution of those responsible for these attacks.

2. Provision of adequate support and compensation to the victims' families.

3. Implementation of effective measures to prevent such attacks in the future.

4. Promotion of continuous intercommunity dialogue and reconciliation efforts.

NIODA stands together against violence. NIODA advocates for peace and development as well as the protection of human rights.
