400k Plateau citizens have access to quality and affordable healthcare services under Plaschema- Dr. Fabong

The Director General Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) Dr. Jemchang Fabong Yildam has disclosed that so far over four hundred thousand (400,000) people have access to quality healthcare services in Plateau State through PLASCHEMA.

Dr. Fabong made this known while deliverin his address at the 7th annual lecture of Gutul's Annual Lecture Initiative (GALI) and presentation of Plaschema Premium Package with a theme the effect of poverty and access to healthcare in collaboration with Plaschema which took place at MYM hall Mangu LGC on the 28, January, 2023.

Dr. Fabong reveals that poverty has reduses the live spand of many people through inadequate access of quality healthcare services, and how the government came in through for its people.

He said, Plateau State has the optimal indices like in most of the average subsharan Africa, by 2018 demographic survey shows that the state have found out low indices that they use to measure the healthcare of the people one of which is the maternal mortality and the maternal mortality ratio.

Furthermore Dr. Fabong in his disclosure stated that they also understand that the majority of the people on the Plateau, have to deep their hands in their pockets to access healthcare services, because it is very few percentage of Plateau people on the Plateau that are enrolled into healthcare insurance. 

He said that has been described as a catastrophic out of pocket expenditure, so if the state have over 90% it's means that more than 60 percent of the recommendation ratio made by the world health organisation, which made it at 30% and of course this has brought hardship to individuals, families and communities. And it has seriously affected the health seeking behaviour of our citizenry. 

Dr Fabong further revealed that the concept of the health insurance is to bring social ned over the people and most countries have achieve universal health coverage because they created this this safety social ned that we refer as health insurance. So the Plateau State Healthcare Contributory Management Agency was created by His Excellency RT. Hon. Dr

 Barr. Simon Bako Lalong KSGG, CON and he did that  so that they can reduce to the bearest minimum what has been described as catastrophic out of pocket expenditure, so that the people of Plateau State can be better for it. 

He also revealed that their goal in PLASCHEMA is to see that everyone on the Plateau have access to care and this care is qualitative and affordable. And they have been working seriously towards achieving that. 

Dr. Fabong also revealed that his agency basically handle two services which he described that they either do basic Healthcare  provision fund or they do what he call the state social insurance scheme. 

But their level of care in Plaschema is either primary service, secondary service, tertiary service or emergency services as they may see. 

In his earlier speech, the convener of the event Mr. Victor Gutul stated that apart from giving lectures they always give people, his organisation always contribute to humanity by offering scholarship to some secondary school students who are present in SS two.

He also said that, apart from offering cholarship they also contribute their quarter in the area of helping 20 widows with wrappers each and rice to celebrate their festive period, they also help about 50 people living with disability with wheelchairs. 

Gutul also revealed that Gutul's Annual Lecture Initiative (GALI)  also helped the orphans and now they are present to some selected individuals who are seriously in need of medical Healthcare attention with the  Plaschema Premium Package to help them to have access to medical Healthcare. 

Also there was some word of appreciation by Mr Phinehas Habakkuk who is one of the beneficiaries, stated that he has never thought that a day like this will come  whereby a good Samaritan who can come to his aid in the area of his medical attention as Mr Gutul did to them. 

Mr Habakkuk said what Mr Gutul did to them it is only God who is the rewader of done on earth can rewards him in his own way. And also pray to God for more door opening in other for him to continue with the good work he is doing to humanity. 

Also in her words, Mrs Josephine Gershon who is also one of the beneficiary stated that she don't have what to say but rather to pray to God Almighty to continue to see Mr Gutul and all the members of Gali God guidance, protection and more grace to their elbow as they keep on doing good to humanity. 

The highlights of the event was the presentation of Plaschema Premium Package card to the beneficiaries, whereby the DG of Plaschema was move by the action of Mr Gutul and decided to add 50 more slots to Gali's beneficiaries.
