The more Plateau PDP waste their time and energy on disparaging Governor Lalong, the more he soars like the eagle-APC

The All Progressives Congress in Plateau State yesterday had its attention drawn to one of the habitual accusation of the Lalong administration by the drowning PDP in the state where it raised sundry issues which are neither here no there.

A statement made available to this medium and was signed by Hon. Sylvanus Namang, APC State Publicity Secretary stated that these are mere exercises in futility as the more they waste their time and energy on disparaging Governor Simon Bako Lalong, the more he soars like the eagle.

The party which ought to be more worried and concerned about its endless litany of woes both within and nationally is desipating its remaining energy on baseless accusation of a performing governor who has refused to fall into the trap of their distraction.

Only last week, the State Executive Council ratified the reawarding of the revoked contract for the Lalong Legacy Projects earlier awarded to Bleneson Services Nigeria Limited to a more reputable contractor, Messrs Integrated Services Ltd.

The Managing Director of Bleneson Services Nigeria Limited, Engr. Lawanson Ngoa had on 31st October, 2022 after failing the state by not meeting its contractual obligations, had the audacity to address a press conference which was aimed at pulling the wool across the people's eyes when he stated among other things that the state government does not have the right to revoke the contract when he is still alive! and when there is a pending case in court challenging the revocation.

This boasy and deceptive contractor who has insulted the collective psyche of us all, is supposed to be condemned by discerning minds except the PDP which has proved through its condemnation of of the revocation to be a collaborator with a failed contractor.

We don't want to bore the reader with the reasons for the revocation of the contact which are in the public domain. 

 The APC in the state is, however, not amazed by the PDP lamentation of the revocation because it is on record that some of its prominent members are  beneficiaries of the slease therein.

 How can the PDP accuse the Lalong administration of overstepping its bounds by revoking a contract whose execution would greatly impact the lives of many Plateau people when completed?

 Apart from being  beneficiaries as sub contractors and ten percenters, the PDP ab initio saw the award of the Lalong Legacy Projects as a great threat to its electoral fortune hence its resistance just as it did in the case of the of the British America Junction Flyover Roundabout construction which is nearing completion.

  The PDP sees the pouring of its venoms on Govenor Lalong as the only way to show its presence even in the face of its gasping for survival in the state.

 To describe the governor as absentee governor is to say the least uncharitable.

 The APC in the state is very proud and comfortable with the governor over his standing tall in the national political arena.  

He was unanimously elected by his colleagues as the Chairman of the nineteen Northern Governors Forum and his well deserved appointment as the Director General of the Tinubu/ Shettima Presidential Campaign Council are no mean feats.

 To crown it all, Governor Simon Lalong  bagged the national honour award of  Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON. All these  are meritorious. 

 In addition to its insults on the governor, the ailing PDP is accusing the APC of failure of leadership and corruption. It seems to have forgotten in such a hurry what happened to Lalong's predecessors who governed  the state on the platform of the PDP. 

 What we think should be of paramount concern to what is left of the PDP in Plateau state is how to get out of the trio of its existential problems.  These include the  likelihood of not being on the ballot again in the 2023 elections as was the case with its non participation in the October 2021 Local Government election, the internal division over which presidential candidate to support and the tearing apart of what used to be the PDP into four irreconcilable factions of Atiku PDP, Kwankwasia PDP,  Obedient arm of PDP and Wike five anti- Atiku PDP.

  Let us sound this note of warning for the umpteenth time. The fast diminishing PDP in Plateau state has no moral justification for its ceaseless attacks on the governor who is performing his role to the admiration of all within and outside the state.

 If he is a failure as the PDP in Plateau want him to be so regarded, the average Plateau people do not  think so hence his re- election to govern them for a second successive term. 

 His colleagues in the Northern part of the country elected him based on his capacity and pedigree and he never disappointed them especially with the principled position  they took to ensure the rotation of the presidency between the North and South. 

 The PDP should bury its head in shame for tempering with  this time tested principle which has led it to all the confusion in the party with no solution in sight. 

 They should not continue to waste their time on Lalong who is unperturbed by their irresponsible criticisms.

 Let the PDP retrace its steps and serve as a true opposition parry  which it will continue to be instead of its deceptive antics of defending the rights of the people.
