NewsGate Magazine: For the purpose of our readers and your constituents, can you briefly introduce yourself?

Hon.Emmanuel Loman: My names are Hon. Dr Emmanuel Dachollom Loman, I am from Barkin Ladi and by the Grace of God today I am the candidate of the APC for House of Representatives Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.

NewsGate Magazine: Sir, what is your blue print for the people of Barkin Ladi/ Riyom Federal Constituency if eventually elected?

Hon.Emmanuel Loman: if eventually elected, my priority would be insecurity, the insecurity has been bedeviling my constituency for years back even though we are still having some skirmishes of the insecurity until date, my people were adversely affected and I want to commend the effort of those that are still representing the constituency at the national level, they have done their best and I want to  consolidate on the effort they have done in term of making legislation that is  favorable in terms of security in my own constituency.
Secondly, with the adverse effect of the insecurity, it has affected the economy of my constituency and that is a very serious issue.
Today youths in my constituency are jobless and that has affected the economy coupled with the legislation that will create more employment and of cause as a legislator, I will rally round lobbying to fast track job opportunities for the youths in my constituency and my constituency project will be priorities to add our communities, projects that will bring development to our communities, projects that will alleviate the suffering of women and children.
As a legislator, I will always speak for my people, speak to intimate government about events that are happening in my constituency and also lobby from the government side for projects that will have good effects and promote the standard of living of my people.

NewsGate Magazine: What are you doing to promote the APC and your candidature  in the state and your constituency?

Hon.Emmanuel Loman: When I came on board, I did a lot in terms of mobilization. Before the primary election I was  able to harness and bring the youths together. I went round to bring the party structure together, sensitizing them on the need to be awaken to their responsibilityas partymen and partywomen, the need to be united and to work together to achieve a common goal. Before my primaries I entered every nook and  cranny of my constituency, that is Barkin Ladi and Riyom which culminated in my winning  in the primary election with a big margin.
I was  able to sensitize people for the need to give government the necessary support because this is a government in place and there is no government in place that God has not ordained. We need to support government so that the dividends of democracy could be made available to us and we need to give peace a chance because without peace we cannot obtain anything.
Today after my victory in the poll, I have been having series of meeting with different groups and in our meetings I preach peace because without peace nothing will work for us.
I give God the Glory for my acceptablilty and respect from my people which Is on the high side and my past antecedent also played a major role as a Local Government Council Chairman and with the help of God I was able to bring my people together from the traditional council, religious leaders, the youths and the women.

Then when the issues of insecurity arises, I call all parties to seat on a round table and that has helped a lot in tackling issues. Seating on a round table with my people and the Fulani to resolve the issues of farmers /herders clash. We discovered a synidicate which rustles cattle, some  buy them, while Igbos would load those cows to the east. This brought a decision on how we all can tackle our differences and it brought a serious reducing in crime rate.
Today I thank the present administration of Governor Simon Bako Lalong which came on board and consolidated on the peace process and by the Grace of God, today  we are expirencing relative peace.

In the case of kidnapping, it is a case that is happening in the entire country so I don’t think its only in Plateau State but we still call on the citizens to be vigilant and report to the security about any abnormality around them.

NewsGate Magazine: Speaking about Governor Simon Bako Lalong, there have been calls by groups that the APC Presidential candidate should pick Governor Simon Bako Lalong as his running mate, what is your view on that?

Hon.Emmanuel Loman: Governor Simon Bako Lalong firstly is a Nigerian, he is legible by the fact of being a Nigerian.
Presently he is a serving Governor and he has done well for Plateau State and he has done well for this country and today he is the Chairman Northern Governor Forum. This is an interllectual, a legal officer and I think he has all the standard prerequisite to be the president of this country more or less a vice president. And he was able to unite the North with the sounthern people of this country as a Chairman of the Northern Governor's Forum, he has inter related with people of the southern part of this country and he is part and parcel of the development going on in this country and I see him as someone who is qualified. I would like to chip in advises. This is a cicular country and today we have the candidate of the APC Tinibu who is a Muslim and for us to balance this equation we need a Christain from the northern part of the country and the eligibility of this very issue is what matters and Governor Lalong suits in in this case.Governor Lalong being a christain would be good to be accorded to be Tinubu’s Vice for peace to rain in the country if elected.

NewsGate Magazine: Sir you talked about insurgency and crisis and how you assisted in dousing it down when you were the Chairman of Barkin Ladi local Government and there has been an upsurge in the attack of worship places and the kidnap of men of God. How best do you think insurgency and insecurity can be addressed in Nigeria?

Hon.Emmanuel Loman: I agree with you that there have been attacks on churches. It is an issue that was allowed from the onset. You see when you tackle issues from the primordial stage, you cutail those issues but when you use kid gloves to handle these issues, eventually those issues would override you.
Firstly I would say there should be a review of the security network then you would discover that within the security network, they are security officers that twist information. They have a link with the insurgents and it is another way of making money. I was told that one of the insurgents said if you want to make easy money join the clique and looking at it today I know that majority of the insurgents are fulanis but its not only the fulanis but there are other tribes too that are involved in this ugly incidents and it is simply because of money. I know some people attach religious sentiments to it but not withstanding the government needs to wake up and be proactive. The essence of any government is the protection of lives and property and I know government to a certain extent is trying its best, but right now the best in not good enough.
In the area I intend moving to which is the National Assembly, they should be a legislation that is very strict, a legislation that must be put on there toes not succumbing to the demands of the executive to the detriment of the people of this country and if that is been done I think everybody would wake up.
The security should be checkedmated if anyone is not up and doing, they should be replaced.
The officers on ground should be mornitored because already parts of them are involved. The period I was Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government, I noticed that the security agencies were not being taking care of properly. You will find out that a military personel is going into the bush to face people that are well armed and he has no protection equipment to aid him, yet all those men there are heavily armed and protected. Secondly, their allowances are nothing to write home about. This is a  country that God has blessed us  with the necessary resources and we can't take care of our security agencies yet we want them  to perform miracles. I think government needs to review their salary and other renumuration of the security to boost their performance.

NewsGate Magazine: Lastly, can you comment on anything that bothers you and needs addressing wheather nationally, State wise, or locally.

Hon.Emmanuel Lohman: I would like to start from my party the APC.I would like to comment on the efforts of our leaders and congratulate those successful at the conduct of the last primary election from the national down to the state. What it means now is to rally round and give support to those elected for the first league in the country but the issue is  that a house divided amogst itself cannot stand.
We must be united and once a candidate has emerged, we must have that spirit of rallying round him with support. All cannot be in imposition at the same time and in politics if you are vying for a position you must go with two minds,to make it on not to,but what I discovered is that a lot of members if they don’t win the  election, they cause trouble or they decide to switch camp or leave entirely. That is a very wrong attitude and statement in politics.
As it is today PDP are also having their own problems and the other day, someone was saying Tinubu and Atiku would push this country into problems if any is elected, but I don’t see it that way, the problem is not the leadership itself, the citizens also have a major role to play. You would find out that a conductor would like to cheat, market women are also involved, lack of sincerity is the  order of the day. Honesty has been packed aside and yet we accuse government whereas amongst ourselves we don’t make sure the right thing is done. You will discover that some house with gutters are full to capacity and they expect government to remove the dirt for them and this small small things we see as nothing are things that we should be looking into and as patriotic citizens of this country, we must be able to do our best and the laws in this country are so liberal that has been another major factor. It is a country gearing  towards lawlessness. Government on its own should be strict on applying the constitution of this country in affairs of governance and the constitution is paramount and must be given attention. It must be recognized. Those that go against the law should go in for it and if that is being done, it will set an example for others as it will create fear within them going contrary to the constitution. I call on Nigerians to know that this is our father's land, we do not have any other country, we must do all we can to safeguard the integrity of this country in order to have a country our children will call home and live there lives just the way we are living ours and our fore fathers before us. What is happening generally between Ukraine and Russia  is of great concern to the whole world. We are losing lives, particularly the children are the  ones facing must of this calamity.I wish to say that let neutrality be allowed to take place. It is a war situation, it has happened and nothing can bring back the hands of time rather the best solution should be a round table solution where they would be give and take so that the distruction of property and lives will be limited so we can all live together in harmony.
