TAP Chairman Detained For Attempted Kidnap of Uni-agric Bursar Released On Bail

The Chief Executive Officer of TAP Group, Ambassador Terwase Paul who was detained over attempted kidnap of a Bursar at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture Makurdi has been released on bail by a Chief Magistrate Court 3 sitting in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

News Parrot gathered from Mr Raphel Akume who covered the Court sitting that the TAP CEO, Terwase and one other, Mson Yaasa of various addresses were arraigned by the Police having been arrested for allegedly "planning to kidnap one Emmanuel Timothy" who is a Bursar of the Federal University of Agriculture  Makurdi, now Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi.

Moving the application for bail of the accused, Counsel to the defendant, Terkula Damsa appearing with Isaac Fulani and A. M Namgwa for all the applicants urged the court to grant same.

According to the source, the application, dated 31st May, 2022 and filled on 15th June, 2021 was supported by two separate affidavits of 24 & 21 Paragraphs respectively and a written address to which Exhibit 1 was attached (upon which the defendants were brought to court).

Sergeant Kuegh Abugh for prosecution could not oppose the application, leaving it to the discretion of the Court.

In her ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Franca Yua granted the application as prayed, admitting that the defendants be bailed in the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira for both and a surety, which must be a civil servant based in Makurdi.

The matter was adjourned to 14th July, 2021, for mention.
