JOS-NORTH/BASSA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY: THE RACE KICKS-OFF, AS GROUPS CALL ON, DR. CHRIS KWAJA, OTHERS TO VIE

By: Alfred Saiki,

With the death and successfully burial of Alhaji Haruna Maitala, who lost his life in a ghastly accident on his way from Abuja to Jos a few weeks ago, the political race to fill his seat at the National Assembly has commenced, as groups in Jos North and Bassa Local Government Areas (LGAs) have started to lure potential indigenes to vie for the seat.

Most groups from  our investigation and on Social Media platforms seem to be picking on potential personalities from Bassa LGA on the ground that, Bassa has not completed its representation.

While some are luring the present member representing the Rukuba/Irigwe State House of Assembly Member, others are calling on Dr. Chris Kwaja, the former Director of Research in the immediate past administration in the state to contest.

Furthermore, supporters of Hon. Jonathan Dabo, who contested for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency seat in 2019, against late Hon. Maitala, to re-contest.

In his opinion this morning, Comrade Steve Aluko Daniel in an interview in a political program anchored by Prince Valentine Adese, on Valreality Radio in Jos, monitored by this paper, also called on Dr. Chris Kwaja, to avail himself and contest for the seat in the interest of the people.

According to Comrade Steve, Dr. Kwaja has all the needed human and documentary credentials to vie for the seat.

He said, “What other credentials do we want for a good representation of the communities and people of Jos-North/Bassa Federal Constituency, which Dr. Kwaja does not have or possess?

“From Local to the State, the Federal to the United Nation (UN), find out and you would see his finger print of able representation.

“Kwaja to my mind must respect this humbly call by the communities and vie for this vacant seat for the interest of the poor, vulnerable, the aged and youths of Jos and Bassa LGAs, as they see him as a mentor!”
